The Philippine Railways Institute (PRI) is a research and training center under the administrative supervision of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

Established by virtue of Executive Order No. 96, s. 2019, the PRI shall serve as the planning, implementing, regulating, and administrative entity for the development of human resources in the railway sector to ensure efficient, reliable, and safe railway transportation services.

To cope with the new normal, the PRI utilized Zoom, a digital videoconferencing platform, to provide synchronous training to railway professionals.

Learning Management System

To streamline services and provide flexibility of learning to its trainees, the PRI launched its learning management system, whereby trainees could access the same to learn and complete the course within five days.

Extended Online Learning

Due to limited manpower of railway operations and growing demand from our stakeholders, the PRI extended the period of completing the online courses in its learning management system from five days to one month.

Book Launching

This day marked the launching of the fundamental training course's books authored by its instructors covering all its competencies, with the assistance of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency's Technical Consultants/ Experts.

Immersion Training in Japan

To further improve its training services, 18 of the instructors were sent to Japan, under the sponsorship of JICA, to undergo a two-month training relevant to the competency they are teaching.
